Cancellation/Refund Policy
Modifying a reservation involves a recalculation of the price based on vehicle availability, current rates at the time of modification, the return station, etc. Changes to the renter's name, the vehicle pickup location, or the credit card number cannot be made for online reservations. In such cases, please cancel your existing reservation and make a new one.
Reservation Cancellation:
In case of a reservation cancellation, the following policy applies:
- A full refund of the deposit will be issued if you cancel your reservation at least one week before the start date.
- If you cancel more than 48 hours but less than one week before the start date, a charge of 50% of the deposit will apply.
- If you cancel less than 48 hours before the start date, a charge of 100% of the deposit will apply, regardless of when the reservation was made.
In case of a no-show, the full rental cost will be charged. If the renter arrives late, the charge will apply from the original reservation date and time. If the renter does not show up within 4 hours of the reservation time, GATACAR reserves the right to release the vehicle without guaranteeing the availability of another one.
Extension of Reservation or Change of Drop-off Location:
For an extension of the rental period or a change of the drop-off location, confirmation from Gatacar is required. The vehicle may not be available for the requested period and may need to be returned on the date and time specified in the reservation or rental agreement.
Deposits – Guarantees:
For all rentals, a guarantee is required, the amount of which varies depending on the payment method and the insurance coverage selected. In the case of payment by credit card, the guarantee is equal to the total rental amount plus the damage participation fee (including insurance, fuel, etc.) and an additional €150 per day. The credit card holder must be present. In any case where the Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) coverage is not selected, an additional guarantee equal to the value of the vehicle is required.
RIGHT OF WITHDRAWAL:
There is a right of withdrawal from the contract for both the Lessor and the Lessee for a valid reason, provided that all the above conditions are not met. However, this must always be done in writing and communicated to the declared addresses. In the case of withdrawal by the Lessee without a valid reason, where the rental started but was not completed (ended), any existing damage must be assessed, and a mutual declaration/acceptance document and termination of the rental must be drafted and signed. Otherwise, the present agreement applies, along with any terms agreed upon between the parties regarding the rental, the obligations of the parties, and the delivery of the vehicle. It is expressly accepted that in this case, no refunds will be made for any amounts paid by any means.
